據《CNN》報導，茂宜（Maui）野火肆虐逾1週，官員於當地時間週二（15日）指出，野火已造成106人罹難，目前官方僅辨認5名罹難者身分，目前當地政府僅公布2名死者名字，其餘3人在通知家屬後公布。格林（Josh Green）週二指出，當局已搜查茂宜島約27%的區域，由於仍有大量搜查工作，故死亡人數可能會大幅攀升。
格林表示，許多遇難者被發現在茂宜島西部海邊的一條高速公路上。格林週一（14日）就指出，目前無法確認有多少人失蹤，而主因就是溝通不暢，「很多人不得不拋棄隨身物品逃生」「他們並無持有手機，因為手機被燒毀了」。茂宜島警察局長佩爾蒂埃（John Pelletier）週一稱，希望至週末前能搜查85至90%的區域。
